South Dakota Senate passes transphobic bill

An unprecedented bill would require that people use the bathroom that corresponds to their sex assigned at birth. One republican senator David Omdahl said, “I’m sorry if you’re so twisted you don’t know who you are … I’m telling you right now, it’s about protecting the kids, and I don’t even understand where our society is these days.”

It is now the decision of the governor republican Dennis Daugaard, who can sign this into law. If you are from this state or know someone who is please send a letter to the governor. Thank you.

Gay Men’s Chorus

My name is Dr. Ryan Endris, and I am the newly appointed Music Director of the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus. As our mission, the Albany Gay Men’s Chorus seeks to entertain and enlighten by creating high quality vocal music in the rich and time-honored tradition of male choral singing. The Chorus strives to promote pride in and acceptance of the gay community and endeavors to build bridges by making positive contributions to the greater Capital Region.

The chorus, which rehearses weekly on Wednesdays from 6:45-8:45pm, is open to all gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight men. We are hoping that some of your members might be interested in joining this wonderful community of singers. Would you be willing to please share this email and attachment with your organization’s members?

Rehearsals begin Wednesday, August 26, and take place at First Lutheran Church (181 Western Ave.); however, we will accepting new members through the end of September. Prospective members simply should come to a rehearsal, where they will be greeted with open arms. Non-singing members (our “fifth section”) are also welcome as volunteers in a “behind-the-scenes” capacity. Anyone interested in joining is also welcome to contact me by email at

I hope you will be able to partner with us in fulfilling our mission of promoting pride and acceptance of the LGBT community through excellence in music.

Picnic Table

Interested in getting involved on campus and spreading your organization’s name throughout RPI? The Student Senate Facilities and Services Committee has been working on a project to bring more picnic tables to our campus! Thanks to joint funding through the RPI Administration and the Rensselaer Union Executive Board, we’ve acquired 15 new picnic tables ready to be assembled.

The Senate has decided to partner with student organizations to build these tables. Groups that participate will have their names engraved on a permanent plaque to be placed with the table in its final location on campus! This means that you and your club have the opportunity to assemble one of these tables, free of charge, and leave a permanent mark on campus.

The picnic tables will be at the ‘86 Field on May 13th, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Sign up, then stop by anytime on that date to build your table and make our campus a nicer place! Please contact me at if you have any questions!
